Skyline Drive is a residential street north of Billerica Centre that runs about 1,850 feet from Pond Street, in a long curve, to Mulberry Lane, with Abbey Lane leaving it to the north near Pond Street. It began as a private way to the house of Roger Toothaker, which the assessors date to about 1960, and it was first laid out as a street on the "Definitive Plan, Skyline Development, Billerica, Mass., belonging to Roger Toothaker, 1 Skyline Dr.," drawn in February 1964 by Henry Shaffer and Associates, registered land surveyors, of Nashua, New Hampshire. Edgar A. Williams signed it for the Planning Board on March 31, 1964, and it was recorded on April 8, 1964 (Plan Book 99, Plan 163). That plan carried Skyline Drive about 990 feet from Pond Street to a turnaround, with ten lots of 25,000 to 64,500 square feet on Toothaker land between the land of Dr. Donald Barber, Visco Corp. and others.

Toothaker's second plan, the "Definitive Plan, Skyline Drive Development," drawn in August 1964 by Atlantic Engineering Associates of Nashua, approved on December 24, 1964 and recorded on December 28, 1964 (Plan Book 101, Plan 47), extended Skyline Drive from the end of the first section south to the new Mulberry Lane, which ran from Boston Road, with nineteen more lots. Most of the houses on the street were built from 1967 to 1969. The origin of the name Skyline was not found.

No vote accepting Skyline Drive as a public way has been found. The highway department resurfaced part of it in 1988. The neighborhood petitioned for sewers at the spring town meeting of 1991 without success, and the "Skyline Drive area" was sewered under Contract 28B, completed in 1997.
